Meditation on Life Lessons
by Dr. Nadia
Regular reflection and introspection is incredibly important for personal growth. In honor of my birthday month, here’s a reflective meditation on some life lessons that have made an impact on me over the past year.

One year done, another is just beginning
To experience all the experiences
that life has to offer
I am
and I am ready
to be present, to be receptive, to appreciate,
marvel with wonder
The beauty of this life
They say we aren’t getting any younger
And for that, I am grateful
gone are the days of black and white thinking
of youth,
its limited perspectives and life experiences.
It is as I get older
I appreciate
the depths of grays
and the freedom it can bring when we embrace
that we don’t know it all and that we don’t need to
We are human in a human experience
and it is ok.
The older I get, the more I understand
the complexities
of the world around us
and within ourselves
the fragility of moments
the spaces within the silence
when nothing is being said out loud
the silent words between those spaces
The older I get, the more I appreciate
not to waste moments
not take a single heartbeat for granted
Yes, time marches on
Or does it dance, swirl, and leap across the sky like a rainbow?
Or does it sit like dewdrops on blades of grass
Or does it sparkle through like the rays of the sun behind the cloudiest of skies?
It’s all just a matter of perspective, isn’t it?
The older I get, the more grateful I am
to recognize that my life is precious
that I don’t need permission from anyone else
to live my life
on my terms
The older I become, the more accepting I am
of myself and what it means to be human:
to hope
to err
to love
to live
to learn.
My wish this year on my birthday
is for us all to appreciate the beauty of life
that we choose to look for silver linings on our cloudy days
and seek the adventure of going beyond comfort zones.
May we be grateful for what we have
and focus on giving others
the present of our time and presence.
Of all the gifts
it is the most precious
One year done
and another is just beginning
I am ready
as I am
to be present, to be receptive, to appreciate,
marvel with wonder
the beauty of my life.

October 19, 2018 at 9:22 amThis is So beautiful! I’ve learned that it’s not that important to stress about things you cannot change. Just let it go and move forward. Has brought me so much happiness and peace within myself. Years of learning that haha

October 19, 2018 at 3:25 pmHi Nadia,
Stopping to take a moment to appreciate life with all of it’s beauty and experiences is so previous.
And not taking time to enjoy this gift of Life is definitely a missed opportunity.

October 19, 2018 at 7:21 pmHappy birthday! I find birthdays a great time to reflect. One of my biggest lessons as I get older is that other people’s opinions of me are far less important than what I know to be be true about myself. Thanks for sharing this beautiful post!

October 21, 2018 at 9:25 pmThis is a great post, saving this one. Give me such a idea to write down my life lesson and probably learn from it and use it as my motivation to keep moving forward to a happy life.

March 8, 2019 at 7:23 amAnother new year to embrace, Happy Birthday! I have learned that you have to give your best and leave the rest. Sometimes or most of the times, the results are not in your hand. All the sorrows lie there where you start controlling the outcomes without giving your best try. Oh yes! Thanks for those thoughtful lines!
