Meditation on Exploring Comfort Zones
by Dr. Nadia

You can stay the path
Walk along the shore
dip your feet in the ocean
sail across
or explore what’s beyond the horizon
Where does your vision end?
Every day you get to decide

What if you just let yourself
be
unrestricted
free

If even for a few moments
you understood the utter possibilities
open to you
that comes from a vision unrestricted
away from self imposed restrictions

Trust the process
and know you will be just fine
Because you have everything you need.
The past, the future
None of it matters
Except where you are right now
You are everything you need.

Comfort Zones and Limits

It is all too easy to stay in our comfort zones. Often times, we make excuses or tell ourselves all of the reasons we can’t do something. Why is that?

The fear of trying something new, of possible failure, of our own self judgment prevents us from taking the next step.

However, growth and progress comes from taking chances and trying something new and challenging yourself.

Think of it this way, worst case scenario, even if it didn’t turn out as you hope for, you will be where you are now and you will have learned some good lessons along the way. And best case scenario, what all could you gain? How will you know what you can accomplish if you don’t allow yourself to take some chances?

More here on how to step outside of your comfort zone.

Sometimes when I feel stuck or restless, I spend some time journaling and meditating on what is it that I want and what is holding me back. More often that not, I find I am my own biggest limit. Once I realize that, it seems much more freeing for me and gives me space to explore whatever it is I am thinking.

I love this! You are right, often times it is the fear of failing and oneself that holds us back.

I love your postings. This one made me think of the times I did step out of my comfort zone. I of course was always hesitant, but they are some of my most fond memories!

Meditation is such an important part of my day. In the past 3-years since becoming a mom, I allowed myself to get into this really powerful negative mindset. It wasn’t until my husband sat me down and told me that he didn’t like me anymore, and that jolted me out and gave me the motivation and wake up call that I needed to become better. Meditation is a great way to help me stay positive and be a better person.

Thanks for sharing your journey, Rikki. Life and especially parenting can be really trying at times. In fact, it was after I became a parent that I wanted to find a way to embody a calm and patient mom. I truly believe we lead by example and how can we expect these qualities from our kids if we can’t do it ourselves? Enter mindful meditation for me. It was a game changer! Glad you are having a positive experience with it!

I love this! My resolution for this year was to push myself and go beyond my comfort zone. It can be difficult but so worth it! We definitely are our own biggest obstacles.

Beautifully written. I am a create of habit and stepping out of my comfort zone scares me. My birthday is in a few days and I said that 27 would be the year that I stop being scared to be great.

I am always so interested when I read about mindfulness and I’m slowly starting to implement it in my own life. I definitely agree quite often the biggest obstacle standing in our way is ourselves and our fears xx

Good advice! The major things I couldn’t accomplish in life were the ones I was to scared to try. It’s funny because starting to blog is out of my comfort zone, and I have not felt as good as I feel now that I have started blogging in a long time, even with putting in hours and hours of work and research a week.
