Feeling Stuck? Meditation on the Mindset for Positive Change
by Dr. Nadia
No matter what our stage in life, we may sometimes find ourselves stuck in our current situation. For new moms, this can feel like not ‘bouncing back’ in the postpartum period. For seasoned parents, it may be feeling like they’ve forgotten who they used to be prior to having kids. For others, it may be feeling stuck in a job, relationship, lifestyle choices. It may be feeling uncertain of your life purpose.

Here’s a quick reflection and reminder that you have all the answers you need. The most important thing is having a positive mindset for change.
Meditation: The Mindset for Positive Change
Our thoughts are powerful and we tell ourselves our reality
‘I will be happy if and/or when…
but these conditionals are constantly changing
and we get stuck in cycles of negativity.
We continue patterns in an endless circle
‘I can’t do it’, ‘what’s the matter with me?’, ‘I’m not good enough’–
where do these thoughts begin and where does it end?
Our insecurities take the forefront and things seem unclear
Why are we so willing to give up on ourselves simply due to fear?
Remind yourself often of your strength, courage, creativity
bring yourself in a mindset of positivity.
It takes five positive thoughts to offset a negative one
what dictates our mental newsfeed, this automatic thinking
we train ourselves with our thoughts
and it becomes as natural as blinking.
It’s said that fortune favors the bold
but it’s up to you to break your own mould.
Stop chasing the illusion of perfection.
Live your best life according to your intentions.
Remind yourself daily of your strengths and smarts.
Tell yourself:
I have all the answers within my mind, soul, heart
I decide when my happiness starts
Give yourself space for self compassion
Trust yourself, your intuition, your purpose, and your passion
for your life is yours and you guide as you want
We only get one life and then it’s gone.
Let me ask myself:
if not today, then when?
If I want to make a positive change,
Let me just begin.

September 4, 2018 at 10:06 amUsually when I’m feeling stuck I allow myself an hour of just quite. even if its a walk, or open up a book. being able to process my thoughts help me realize that its okay to not know where I am going 100% of the time.

September 4, 2018 at 12:12 pmPerspective is EVERYTHING! I try to remember, even in adversity, I am learning something. And if not now, what will be will be and I will always be OK. I think that has been the key for me. Always having a hope for tomorrow and a future and knowing things will happen when the universe agrees with the timing. Staying in the present while be comfortable with your past and the unknown of the future has been my best coping mechanism.

September 4, 2018 at 8:56 pmAs I’ve aged, I’ve come to the realization that mindset matters. We all get those negative thoughts that set up in our mind. We can make conscious decisions to listen to them or to change them. I choose changing them!

September 11, 2018 at 11:51 pmYou are so right. Our mindset has such a great effect on our overall outlook on life. Thanks, Kristi!

September 4, 2018 at 8:58 pmThis is such an important message. When we deny ourselves love and acceptance until we become some mythical better version of ourselve we create a cycle of unhappiness. Changing your mindset and realizing that you are so worthy of love and acceptance (including your own) as you are right now changes everything. It’s truly magnificents!
Thanks for sharing such an important message ♡

September 4, 2018 at 9:43 pmI love the picture of our “mental newsfeed.” Just like on our social media feeds we can let images scroll through uncontrolled or we can choose which ones we want to see and react to.

September 5, 2018 at 10:59 amexactly. people don’t realize how much choice we have in controlling and choosing our thoughts. And those thoughts affect our perceptions and perspectives. Thanks, Aletha!

September 5, 2018 at 6:55 amMeditation isn’t for everyone, but I really think it takes practice. I admit that I struggle to keep my brain away from a million and one other thoughts as I try meditation, but I’m working on it. We all need to stop the crazy pace at which we live sometimes.

September 5, 2018 at 10:57 amI totally agree. Sometimes we are way too busy for our own good.

September 6, 2018 at 4:39 pmIt’s so incredibly hard to switch gears but I’ve learned to ask myself if my negative self talk is based in truth and fact. That tends to really help.

September 11, 2018 at 11:45 pmThat’s a smart idea! How much of our negative thoughts are just an emotion vs a truth. Good thinking.

September 10, 2018 at 9:10 amGood read, we all need reminding of this every now and again. I completely agree that the mind and our words are powerful. When I’m feeling a bit down I purposely smile, even if it’s forced at first, and say hi to strangers. It seems to help me and them 😊

September 11, 2018 at 11:43 pmThat’s awesome! You are brightening up someone’s day with a smile 🙂

September 10, 2018 at 5:41 pmYour post is very insightful, thank you for sharing this! When I am feeling stuck sometimes I try not to think about anything at all. I will either get lost in a book, show or travel to the nature park and walk around. I find that when I get my mind off the situation, it creates a clear space for me so when I return to the topic that had me stuck I can see it with a clear mind.
themindfulmdmom
September 11, 2018 at 11:42 pmTaking a break and then coming back is a great idea. Thanks, Brittney!
